Rules & Regulations

Park Rules


The following rules and regulations apply to all of the parks in Springfield:
  • Please keep your park clean and beautiful. Prevent littering and vandalism.
  • Hours: 6:30 AM until Dark or scheduled event hours.
  • All pets must be on a leash and under control at all times. Pit bulls must also be muzzled. 
  • Pet owners must clean up pet waste.
  • Pets are not allowed on athletic fields or playground areas.
  • No alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs allowed.
  • Permits must be obtained from the Parks and Recreation office to reserve park facilities or use the park for any prohibited use.
  • No golfing permitted, except in designated areas.
  • Placing posters or signs is prohibited except by permit.
  • Selling of merchandise is prohibited except by permit.
  • Sound truck advertising is prohibited.
  • Building fires are prohibited except in grills or by permit.
  • Fishing is allowed until further notice.
  • Swimming is prohibited in lakes, ponds and streams.
  • Speed limit throughout the park is 15 mph.
  • Only licensed drivers are to operate motorized vehicles inside the park. Driving lessons are prohibited.
  • Motorized vehicles are confined to the paved roads and parking areas unless otherwise directed by a police officer or Parks Department employee.
  • Skateboarding, skating and biking are prohibited in the spectator or bleacher areas of athletic fields during games or practices.
  • No motorized vehicles are allowed on paved trails excluding electric powered apparatuses used to assist disabled persons.
  • Authorized service vehicles may occasionally be on the trails.

Hours


Park Hours are as follows:
  • 6:30 AM - Dusk
Splash Pad at Martin Luther King Jr. Park
Hours:  10:00 AM-8:00 PM Daily
Picnic Shelter (adjacent to Splash Pad) $20 per hour.  Reservations required       615-382-1655. Bounce/jump houses prohibited.  

  • ANY PERSON VIOLATING ANY OF THE INSTRUCTIONS WILL BE EVICTED FROM THE PARK
  • The splash pad is an unsupervised facility.  Use at your own risk.
  • All children must have adult supervision at all times.
  • children under the age of ten (10) must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older at all times
  • All participants must conduct themselves in a courteous, safe and family oriented manner
  • No food or drink permitted on the splash pad
  • No glass containers are permitted in the park area
  • Climbing on splash pad features are strictly prohibited
  • No pets are allowed on splash pad
  • Non-toilet trained children must wear swim diapers
  • Roughhousing or violent play is prohibited
  • Be mindful of inclement weather.  Remember, "lightning Kills"
  • Splash pad shall be vacated at the first sign of thunder or lightning
  • Splash pad may be closed occasionally due to weather, maintenance or other operational concerns
  • No water balloons permitted in the park
  • Do not enter the splash pad area if you have a communicable disease or an open wound
  • No skateboards, rollerblades, bicycles, scooters, or other wheeled toys are allowed on the splash pad
  • No diaper changing within the splash pad area.  Use changing tables in restrooms
  • the splash pad is for recreational use only.  No bathing allowed
  • Water shoes or sandals are recommended
  • Toys are not permitted on the splash pad
  • Do not drink the splash pad water
  • Surveillance cameras recording at all times
  • ANY PERSON VIOLATION ANY OF THE INSTRUCTIONS WILL BE EVICTED FROM THE PARK


Greenway Rules


  • Greenway shall be open from dawn to dusk year round.
  • Prevent littering and vandalism.
  • No alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs allowed.
  • All pets must be on a leash and under control at all times. Pit bulls must also be muzzled. 
  • Pets are not allowed on athletic fields.
  • Horseback riding is prohibited.
  • No motorized vehicles are allowed on Greenway excluding electric powered apparatuses used to assist disabled persons.
  • Authorized service vehicles may occasionally be on the trails.
