SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. – After nearly 44 years, Chief Jimmy Hamill is retiring from the City of Springfield Fire Department.
Hamill began his career with the fire department in 1976, was steadily promoted through the ranks and was appointed fire chief in 2012.
“Jimmy has been a true leader in this community and a huge advocate for the Springfield Fire Department,” said Assistant City Manager Ryan Martin. “We have been so fortunate to have him in our ranks for more than 40 years.”
The fire department along with other city employees said goodbye to Hamill Tuesday. Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Glodoski has been named interim fire chief until the position is filled.
