The City of Springfield temporarily cancels programs and activities

SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. – The City of Springfield continues to monitor the evolving coronavirus (COVID-19) status and is joining state and national efforts to slow the spread of the virus. We are taking actions to protect our residents and employees as well as mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on the community. At this time there are no confirmed or reported cases of the virus in Springfield.

Beginning Friday, March 13, 2020 through at least Wednesday, April 1 The Center, 401 N. Main Street will be closed. In addition, all Springfield Parks & Recreation Department public events and programs will be canceled or postponed. All other City of Springfield departments, facilities and parks remain open.

City court is also canceled on Monday, March 16, 2020, pursuant to an order from Tennessee Supreme Court Chief Justice Jeff Bivins issued today.

This month’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting will still take place on Tuesday, March 17 at City Hall and be open to the public. However, in lieu of attendance the public is encouraged to live stream the meeting from the city’s website, YouTube or Facebook page. The meeting can also be viewed on the city’s Public Access Channel (Comcast Channel 3 or AT&T Channel 99) throughout the following month.
