The mission of the Springfield Police Department Narcotics and Gang Division is to enhance the quality of life for our community now and in the future. We will achieve this goal by setting the highest standards of professionalism and providing a progressive level of service and protection to the public.  
                                                    Unit Description

The Springfield Police Department Narcotics and Gang division is a special unit devoted to the investigation of all Narcotics and Gang related crime in the City of Springfield. This unit has partnered with Local, State and Federal agencies in the ongoing fight against Drugs, Weapons and Violent repeat offenders. Since there is a nexus between guns, gangs, narcotics and crime, the increased police presence will result in more effective investigations, quantifiable increases in arrests and a reduction in our crime rate. Narcotics and Gang enforcement efforts also focus on street level enforcement strategies to reduce crime, thereby resolving community problems and facilitating uniformed officer’s involvement. Our Officers are trained in several different fields such as, Prescription drug diversion, Gang intelligence and Methamphetamine Lab containment and removal.
